2024! WOW, What a Blast
From humble beginnings to becoming a full-blown online magazine, GRVL Magazine’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Starting with simple interviews on Instagram, we’ve grown into a platform that celebrates the essence of gravel cycling and its vibrant community. It’s been an incredible ride, and we owe it all to you, our readers and subscribers.
A Year of Growth
This year has been amazing, and it is all thanks to you for showing your unwavering support. Whether you’ve read our articles, shared our stories, subscribed to our newsletter, or liked our posts, you’ve been the driving force behind our success. Your enthusiasm and engagement are deeply appreciated, and it’s what keeps us going.
We’ve grown from strength to strength, starting on Substack and quickly moving to our new home at grvlmagazine.com. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of interviewing incredible riders like Pete Stetina, Ian Boswell, and Keegan Swenson. Working with top events such as the Gravel Earth Series race Gravel Weekend, the Smugglers Path, and the UCI Gravel World Series has been an absolute highlight.
Our collaborations have extended to innovative companies like Wahoo, HRSH, Rule 28, and Redshift Sports, all bringing exciting advancements to the GRVL cycling world.
To top it off, we now have Olympic-level support from TF Coaching’s Head Coach, Toms Flaksis, further elevating our platform.
The Kollektiv
The team has now grown to include the Kollektiv, a group of writers and creators from across the globe who will be bringing you fresh content in 2025. Say hello to Logan Jones-Wilkins, Chris Mehlman, Justina Jarczok, Ryan Simonovich, Adam Porter, Wil Matthews, and Anton Lasy. With their talents, you can expect a lot of new features, interviews, and in-depth stories about the GRVL Racing and Community scenes.
Project NICE
In November, we launched Project NICE with our Editor James Ion embarking on a massive challenge: can he, an average rider, with the right support qualify for the GRVL World Championships in Nice, France, 2025? With Toms Flaksis providing coaching, elite GRVL Racer and Nutritionist Kate Macleod managing fueling, HRSH Gravel Apparel providing the kit, and Wahoo bringing the tech, he has every chance to do it. It has been a rough start, filled with self-doubt, but progress is slowly being made. Be sure to follow along and give him your support as he takes on this inspiring journey.
What’s to Come in 2025
We are gearing up to provide you with comprehensive coverage of the GRVL Racing scene. Kicking off the new season, we have interviews lined up with top riders like Sarah Sturm and Greg Van Avermaet, as well as coverage of The Rock Cobbler. We’ll offer insight into qualifying as a Wild Card for the LifeTime Grand Prix, ride guides to Santa Cruz, and tips for planning an Ultra Season.
But it’s not just about the pros. We’re diving into the events to feel the vibes, meet thousands of participants, and hear your stories too! The beauty of GRVL cycling is that we all suffer on the same tracks, no matter our ability, with the shared goal of reaching the finish as fast as possible.
Thank You
Before we say goodbye and wish you a Happy New Year, just know once again how much we appreciate your support. You guys are awesome, and we cannot wait to show you what is coming in 2025. Here’s to another year of adventure, growth, and connection in the world of gravel cycling!
